Visiting Cwm Doethïe is an opportunity to step into a landscape that is giving room for wildlife, and people to thrive. Whether you’re exploring our walking routes, joining in with a volunteering activity or staying nearby to soak up the peace of the land, this guide will help you plan a safe and enjoyable trip.

Getting here

The Cwm Doethïe site is 1,195 acres of land in the Doethïe valley, in Ceredigion’s glorious Elenydd(Cambrian Mountains) in mid-Wales. It can be found between Tregaron (9 miles) and Rhandirmywn (13 miles).

 
By car 

The Cwm Doethïe site can be accessed from Soar y Mynydd, the most remote chapel in Wales.

The site can also be accessed if staying at Ty’n Ccornel Hostel. Note there is no visitor parking or laybys, only parking for guests.

By foot:

The south of the site forms part of the Cambrian Way Stage 9.

It can be accessed by considerate parking at the bridge at SN77546 47092 - this is a there and back again walk - approximately 5km walking up the Doethie valley before arriving at the site.

Explore the Site

 

There are several walking routes across the site, varying in length and accessibility. The paths lead along the rivers, through woodlands and open uplands. Surfaces are uneven - please take care ​​

What to Bring

This is a 1,200 acres site and weather changes quickly and terrain varies, so please come prepared.

​

  • Sturdy footwear - boots or walking shoes suitable for uneven ground.

  • Weather‑ready clothing - layers, waterproofs, sun protection depending on the season.

  • Reusable bottle

  • Binoculars - wildlife encounters are often at a distance.

  • Respectful curiosity - please close gates behind you, keep dogs on leads and give space to livestock and wildlife. Do not approach or feed the animals.

  • Please leave no trace and take your litter ​home with you.
